For our first travel break abroad, we decided to go to Finland and drive up North to the Arctic Circle! So, obviously we were freezing cold. When we were at our northernmost point in Levi, Finland the temperatures dropped to -16 Celsius. I have never been that cold before in my life. We drove this far North because the probability of seeing the northern lights is a lot higher in the arctic circle. Sadly, the one night we spent in Levi the northern lights were not visible because of a fog ...... We were in the right place though because we talked to a local and she said she normally saw them from her cabin every night. Although we did not get to see the northern lights (rip), we still got to experience the freezing cold, driving on icy roads, and Santa Land!! Santa land in Rovaniemi, Finland looked like it was going to be a popping destination online, but we ended up being some of the few tourists there. We got to Reindeer sled, visit a husky park, and see Santa, pretty much by ourselves! Finland was definitely a cool destination, and if your adventurous I would definitely recommend driving in Finland because that was truly a surreal experience.
