Greek Islands

October 2017

For our educational field trip, we went on a four day cruise around the Mediterranean. We began and ended the tour in Athens, so we walked around La Placa and enjoyed drinks in the oldest distillery in Athens. We also toured the Acropolis museum and the Acropolis itself. Our first Island was Mykonos. Mykonos is a beautiful Island and has lots of great tourist shops, and is known as the most expensive Greek island. We still managed to get chicken pita for 3.50, so I would definitely recommend! Next, we toured the ancient city of Ephesus. The ruins were breathtaking. While we were in Ephesus we read Pauls letter to the Ephesians. We later went to a leather store and drank the traditional Turkish apple tea, while watching a runway show. Our next visit was to the breathtaking island of Patmos. Patmos had beautiful views over looking the ocean. While we were there we visited a monastery and the cave where John supposedly had his revelations. We read his revelations in Acts while we were there, which was a surreal experience. The next day we spent a lot of time on the island of Rhodes. I spent the majority of the time on the beach relaxing in the sun. The ocean was a bright blue and the sun was out - it was the perfect day. The last Island we visited was Santorini. We were in Santorini during the sunset, and the views could not help but take your breath away. We also enjoyed some of Santorini's local wine, which was of course delicious! Everyone I encountered in Greece was very kind and welcoming. I would love to return one day. I actually got offered a job in Athens..... so who knows!
